US warplanes that F-35 military exercises with South Korea
The US Air Force will deploy stealth fighter F-35B to engage modern exercises with South Korea, Yonhap reported on 2/3.
According to Yonhap, the stealth fighter F-35B US Air Force will participate in the Annual General collective US - Korea entitled "Young Eagles". The exercises are taking place in Korea to enhance precision attack capability of the two militaries, according to some military officials.
The F-35B fighter jets are expected to participate in the ground-attack operations assumed in drills lasted 2 months between Seoul and Washington. Military officials said the purpose of deploying F-35B to the exercise this time is aimed at sending a strong signal to North Korea, and warned Pyongyang that modern fighters can be used in the event of a conflict on the Korean peninsula.
Earlier, the F-35B squadron was first deployed to Iwakuni, Japan in mid-January in the context of the threat from its nuclear program and North Korea's rocket continues to rise.
F-35B fighter is a new version, capable of taking off from short runways and landing vertically, and owner radar system can detect targets up to 500 km away. The aircraft is considered strategic military assets that can be deployed to attack important targets, which are strictly protected by the opponent.
In addition to the F-35B, a source said the US plans to deploy strategic weapons such as groups Carl Vinson aircraft carrier USS, the long-range bombers, B-1B and B-52 to join the exercises "young eagle".
